Building supportive relationships in mental health wards and in life beyond

The project aims to provide 1:1 support for 54 disadvantaged people suffering mental distress, mainly through the support given by 40 local and trained volunteers. The project is based in North East London, and links into the hospital wards and patients there.  This will continue as they are discharged into the community.

It is delivered by Attend, a national charity that supports the vital role volunteers play to support health and social care in local communities. One of the ways this is done is through delivering innovative showcase projects. This project follows the model of a very successful project piloted in South West London.

“We are very grateful to the Trustees of the Gamesys Foundation for their generous support of this project. It will mean that many people are both reached and supported.”
