Family Action transforms lives by providing practical, emotional, and financial support to those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation across England and Wales. The Friendship Work program is a service offered by Family Action which aims to transform the lives of disadvantaged children and young people aged 5-18 through long-term mentoring.

Many of the young people receiving help from Friendship Works are living in poverty, or with the effects of domestic violence, addiction, or bereavement. These circumstances put their wellbeing at risk, along with increasing the chance that these youngsters will face challenges such as unemployment, mental health problems, substance misuse, and crime.

Friendship Works is a preventative service that seeks to stop this downward spiral by providing a mentor to spend time with and connect to.

“The generous donation from the Gamesys Foundation will help us to provide this vital service to the many young people we support and to recruit new volunteers to mentor the other young people on our waiting list. Friendship Works relies 100% on voluntary income and Gamesys support will make a significant difference to the lives of the children and young people using this service.”
